Transmashholding yet to decide on high-speed railway participation
ST. PETERSBURG, Aug 25 (PRIME) -- Russian railway equipment producer Transmashholding is waiting for the parameters of a planned high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg to decide on participation, CEO Kirill Lipa said on Friday.
"We need to understand what real characteristics we are talking about. We have no technical requirements and no rolling stock specifics so far," Lipa said, when asked whether the company would participate in the project discussed earlier in August.
President Vladimir Putin supported last week construction of a pilot high-speed railway between Moscow and St. Petersburg. The first details of the project and an investment plan of 1.7 trillion rubles was announced on Thursday.
Transmashholding is considering expanding the current capacities, construction or purchase of new facilities, Lipa said. "We always do the same thing: build and buy. The capacities are loaded to the maximum," Lipa said.
The company plans to send documents to contest U.S. sanctions against its affiliate Metrowagonmash in September, Lipa said separately.
